News from our arhive: Nick Carter Arrested For Drunk Driving |
When the Backstreet Boys hit the road later this month, chances are Nick Carter won’t be driving the tour bus. The youngest BSB was arrested Saturday for alleged drunk driving. According to Associated Press, Carter was pulled over March 5 while driving in California. Police say they saw him committing a traffic violation and pulled him over. After failing a sobriety test on the road, Carter was taken to the station. He’s been booked for investigation of drunk driving and his vehicle has been impounded.
Backstreet's publicist has switched into high gear and released a statement blaming the problem on Carter’s prescription medicine. They said he didn’t know the problems that could arise from mixing the drug with alcohol. This report seems surprisingly similar to fellow BSB A.J. McLean’s not so long ago fight with alcoholism and drug use. Let’s hope this incident doesn’t spawn the same rehab fiasco that we had to deal with then, just as they try to get their career back.
This isn’t Carter’s first run-in with police. Back in 2002, Carter was arrested for failure to comply with police orders to leave a Florida nightclub after some sort of scuffle broke out. Carter had to complete community service and pay a fine.
The Boys’ new album is expected in July and they’re planning to tour throughout the year. Depending on your taste, you may be concerned or delighted to know that there are no Canadian dates on their schedule at this point. |
