News from our arhive: Man Shot At New York Radio Station During 50Cent Interview |
If you're planning a trip to New York, you may want to avoid the Manhattan studio of radio station Hot 97 where another shooting has taken place. Around 10 p.m. on Monday, a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital after being shot in the left leg. The incident took place while rapper 50 Cent was being interviewed at the station. During the shooting, Fiddy was on air promoting his new record, The Massacre, and was not harmed. The Associated Press reports the shooting occurred right after 50 announced that he was going to be dropping rapper The Game from his group G-Unit. The injured is in hospital in stable condition. AP reports the victim is a member of 50 Cent’s entourage, but his name hasn’t been released yet. No arrests have been made yet and a police investigation continues. This is the same station that was the setting for a 2001 shoot out that involved Lil’ Kim’s entourage and rap group Capone-N-Noreaga.
Lil’ Kim is currently facing charges of perjury and conspiracy which could see her in prison for up to 30 years if found guilty. The jury for Kim's trial was chosen Monday and opening statements began Tuesday. Kim has made statements saying that these charges are part of the government’s plot against the hip-hop industry. In January, Kim’s manager, Damion Butler, pled guilty to charges stemming from the incident and admitted to firing a gun.
