News from our arhive: U2 Announce Fall Leg Of North American Tour |
Canadians who felt snubbed by U2 after hearing the dates of the first leg of their Vertigo tour can stop whining. The band have announced the inevitable fall portion of their tremendously popular travelling circus. The second leg of the tour will begin on September 12 in Toronto and takes them to the end of the year, wrapping up December 19 in Portland, Oregon. Tickets for these shows go on sale this week and once again, U2 fan club members can order tickets in the pre-sale, or be horribly shafted like the members who tried to order tickets on the first leg but were denied due to technical difficulties on the server.
U2 visit three Canadian cities — there will be two shows in Toronto, one in Montreal and it seems that Prime Minister Paul Martin may have done his part — the band will be visiting Ottawa for the first time in 20 years.
The Vertigo tour begins at the end of March and already 2.2 million tickets have been sold. According to Billboard.com, ticket sales have already reached around $185 million U.S., or over $220 million Canadian. By the end of the tour the band will have made almost $300 million U.S, nearly $400 million Canadian, making it one of the highest grossing tours ever. |
