News from our arhive: Lil Kim Takes The Stand To Defend Her Testimony |
In her perjury trial, rapper Lil’ Kim took the stand Thursday to defend the alleged lies that could see her behind bars for up to 30 years if found guilty. In the second week of her trial, Lil’ Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, said she had no motive to lie to the grand jury. She described the two men she was supposedly protecting as thieves whom she didn’t trust. Kim said her former manager Damien Butler and associate Suif Jackson stole from her and she hadn’t had relationships with them in two years.
Kim told the jury she was a victim and repeated that she doesn’t remember seeing Butler firing a gun during the shootout at New York’s Hot 97 radio station. She said it was a traumatic experience and before she knew it she was thrown into her limo. Prosecutors allege that Kim and her assistant lied to the grand jury about knowing the gunmen involved in the incident. Prosecutors have shown video of Kim getting into her limo with some of the suspects.
The two men Kim is accused of protecting have pled guilty to being involved in the shooting. Jackson has been sentenced to 12 years in jail, while Butler is still waiting on a sentence. Other witnesses who’ve testified, including Lil’ Cease and Capone, have described the scene outside the radio station as chaotic. There were at least six guns involved and 30 bullets fired on the Manhattan street. |
