News from our arhive: Singer Daniel Bedingfield Injured In Serious Car Accident |
Pop singer Daniel Bedingfield was involved in a violent, single-vehicle auto accident in his native New Zealand on Friday. He suffered vertebrae damage in his neck and is expected to make a full recovery, according to his U.S. spokesperson. A passenger in his vehicle suffered only minor cuts. The singer, best known for his hit single "Gotta Get Thru This," was driving an SUV on a road in the town of Whangarei, New Zealand, when it ran off the road and flipped over several times. Bedingfield and his friend had to be cut out of the vehicle, which was badly mangled.
"Right now, I feel OK and very grateful to be alive," Bedingfield said in a statement. "I don't remember much about what happened but I've seen pictures of the car and feel blessed to have got out of there at all."
Doctors will keep Bedingfield at the Whangarei Hospital for at least a week. Even though he suffered neck injuries, his motor skills are still intact. He will continue his rehabilitation, which is expected to take two to three months, at home.
"I'm sure I'll be getting bored soon, but I'm in the middle of writing the new album so when I feel up to it I'll start writing some more," he added in his statement. |
