News from our arhive: Tsunami-relief benefit performance with Bono, Keys |
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have shied away from talking about their marriage, but they're about to take center stage at the Grammy Awards later this month, where they'll perform live together for the first time.Although the Recording Academy did not announce which song Lopez and her third husband will perform, the tune could be one slated for one of Lopez's two upcoming albums. The pair teamed up in the studio initially to record tracks for her forthcoming Spanish-language album, but then did a few songs together for her English-language album, Rebirth, which is out March 1. One of those tracks, "You Got Me," is about their relationship, according to producer Rodney Jerkins (see "Jennifer Lopez Not Talking About Her Marriage, But Rodney Jerkins Is").
It's also possible that the couple could sing "Escapemonos," from the film "Shall We Dance?", which appears on two Anthony albums, Amar Sin Mentiras (which is nominated for Best Latin Pop Album) and Valio la Pena (which received a nod for Best Salsa Merengue Album).
Working with Anthony, Lopez said recently, didn't feel like work at all. "It just started flowing and we just had these incredible songs," she recalled. "We just kept going, kept with the flow, and it was really an incredible, growing process. Marc's kind of created the sound and found the music, and then I bring to it what I bring to it, my own passion. The thing about music, when it happens in the right way: It's the right song with the right artist with the right sound at the right time, and we have that going on right now."
In other Grammy news, the telecast will also feature a fund-raising segment benefiting ongoing tsunami-relief efforts via a joint musical performance by Bono, Alicia Keys, Velvet Revolver, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Norah Jones and Tim McGraw of the Beatles' "Across the Universe." The live performance will be available for download on iTunes for $.99.
Just-announced presenters for the show include Hoobastank (who are up for Best Rock Album and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals), Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Alison Krauss (who is up for Best Female Country Performance and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals) and model/actress Tyra Banks. Hosted by Queen Latifah, the 47th annual Grammy Awards will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS on February 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
